And, even if you tell anybody, they won’t believe, that you created your fireplace yourself.

Let’s see, how to make a fake fireplace out of wood. First of all, you have to decide on how your future fireplace should look and then measure the length and width of details for your fireplace frame and the top cover for it, mantel, the base of the hearth and its top, firebox door, chimney plank wall and any details you’ve chosen to attach.

How to Make a Fake Fireplace Mantel

You’ll need quite a lot of wood planks and plywood sheets, MDF, basic tools, a hack saw and a fretsaw. If you don’t have the two letter ones, there’re lots of places, where you can get your wooden materials cut up according to your measurements. When you have all of your details and pieces laid out all ready, your project turns kind of into building Lego. Just screw and glue everything together and your fireplace is halfway done. When you got the fireplace ready, nail it down onto the wall and start attaching the wooden chimney planks above it and up to the ceiling. Then add the mantel on the fireplace frame.

When that’s done, you may go ahead and attach the AirStone blocs around the firebox door and onto the sides of the heath. Cover the top of the heath with the concrete patio stones (you will need only a few of them). Paint the wooden chimney part and the firebox door, add some decorations and you’re done.

Maybe, you were wondering how to make a fake fireplace out of cardboard. I’ll tell you! You may recreate the project I’ve already described above, but instead of wood and AirStone blocks use cardboard and Styrofoam tiles. It will be the greatest decoration for Christmas.
